DR. PATSAVOS TO DELIVER HOMILY FOR THE FEAST OF THE THREE GREAT HIERARCHS
learn moreOn Thursday, February 3, 2022, Dr. Lewis Patsavos, Professor of Canon Law emeritus at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, will deliver a homily to commemorate the Feast of the Three Great Hierarchs in the Holy Cross Chapel. Dr. Patsavos was invited to speak by unanimous vote of the Holy Cross faculty, in order to recognize publicly his receipt of a doctorate honoris causa from the Pontifical Oriental Institute in Rome on December 3, 2021. HCHC TO HOST GOA 100th ANNIVERSARY CONFERENCE – CALL FOR PAPERS
learn moreHellenic College Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology will hold an academic conference from October 6-8, 2022 in observance of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. The organizing committee welcomes paper proposals from scholars and advanced graduate students on topics related to the history of the Greek Orthodox Church in America. PROFESSOR GANSON MAKES PRESENTATION TO FULBRIGHT SCHOLARS
learn moreOn December 20, 2021, Professor Nicholas Ganson, co-director of The Greek Revolution through American Eyes bicentennial exhibition now on display at HCHC’s Maliotis Cultural Center, made a presentation entitled “Greek Fever: Philhellenism, Humanitarianism, and Reform” via web conference for the Fulbright Scholars of Northern Greece. He provided insights into the interplay between philhellenism, humanitarianism, and the ideal of liberty, as seen in the activism of prominent American grecophiles Edward Everett and Samuel G. Howe in support of the Greek cause, and later, in domestic reform and the abolitionist movement.
